A man who kidnapped a North Texas Lyft driver and forced her to drive him to a Miami suburb has reached a plea agreement and will serve at least seven years in prison.
Miguel Alejandro Pastran Hernandez admitted to abducting the driver in Arlington in August. Prosecutors said he used what appeared to be a gun — later determined to be a BB gun — to force the woman to embark on a three-day journey to South Florida.
The ordeal began when the driver was dispatched to pick up Hernandez at a closed gas station. Upon arriving, she was threatened and compelled to drive. Once they reached the Miami area, Hernandez allegedly planned to kidnap another individual.
The victim managed to escape by locking herself in a bathroom and calling for help. Hernandez fled but was apprehended shortly thereafter.
