A North Texas man charged in connection with a July 4 shooting outside Prairieland Detention Center turns himself back in after authorities say he was mistakenly released due to a clerical error.

Daniel Sanchez Estrada was freed the day before Thanksgiving and spent several days with family before learning a judge had ordered him returned to federal custody.

Estrada is accused of concealing a box containing anti-government materials after the shooting, which investigators have described as part of a coordinated attack on the detention facility.

Federal prosecutors argued he posed a danger to the community, and he was ordered held pending trial.

Officials have not detailed the exact paperwork error that led to his release, but the U.S. Marshals Service and federal courts are reviewing how the mistake occurred.

Estrada is now back in custody as the case moves forward.
