FORNEY (1080 KRLD)- A Forney man is now in jail after a disturbance involving a small child and a firearm yesterday.

Just before 6 p.m. police were called to the Forney Ice House on Highway 80. They found an armed man named Nathan Pontzer outside but he dropped his pistol and put up his hands when he saw the police.

They arrested him on the spot. Turns out, the tavern employees thought Pontzer was intoxicated when he tried to leave with his small child. Fearing for the child's safety, a customer tried to stop Pontzer. During their scuffle, Pontzer pulled a pistol but he was quickly disarmed.

Customers took the child back inside and locked Pontzer out. But he got another gun and tried to force his way in.

That's the point where Forney police got there and hauled him to jail.
