A man has been captured in Dallas where police have been looking for two men seen on doorbell camera video trying to kick in a man's door over the weekend.
Police say Aaron Contreras is now behind bars on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Deadly Conduct through the Discharge of a Firearm.
Police say Contreras is the man seen on widely viewed video knocking on an Oak Cliff apartment door claiming to be there to "check air filters."
The occupant was suspicious and pretended to be talking by way of his phone through the doorbell camera and claimed no one was home. Once the man outside believed the apartment to be empty, he pulled a pistol, and with another male suspect, took turns kicking the door forcefully in an apparent attempt to break in.
After a dozen strong kicks, at least ten gunshots erupted from within the apartment, through the door striking a wall outside. Police say the suspects fired at least two shots in return. It did not appear the suspects were struck and they took off running.
The video shows Dallas police arriving to begin the investigation. Because the video was so widely viewed on social media, it brought in CrimeStoppers tips leading police to Contreras.
The other man was wearing a mask and police don't know who it was, yet.
