An accused car thief is locked up and several people in the stolen pick-up with him are being treated after the truck crashed and rolled in Fort Worth early Friday.

About 2 a.m., officers spotted a stolen pick-up parked at Stallion Point, an apartment complex on Everman Parkway near I-35. They saw a man climb in and drive off.

When a police car lit him up, the guy sped off and led a police chase that went south on 35 into Johnson County until the pick-up crashed near Conveyor Drive about half-way between Burleson and Alvarado.

The driver bailed out and ran for it but it didn't take long for officers to chase him down. When he ran, he left four passengers behind in the mangled pick-up.

At least two of them were hurt bad enough to go to the hospital.

The driver is jailed on a string of charges including car theft and evading arrest.
