McKinney City Councilman Lashadion Shemwell has been officially recalled in a controversial election.
Nearly 70 percent of the voters supported his recall which was on the ballot because of a petition drive.
Shemwell has sued the city of McKinney, claiming the procedure is un-constitutional.
Unless the courts intervene, the council can appoint someone to fill the rest of Shemwell's term.
Shemwell had previously declared a "Black State of Emergency" and urged Black people not to visit McKinney.
The McKinney City Council meets Friday to decide the next steps.
