A McKinney man behind a series of kidnappings and attempted kidnappings has admitted to the crimes, and while awaiting trial he also racked-up other charges.

Police records show 31-year-old Arique Davion Bagby terrorized women in Denton County three years ago, trying to force two Corinth women into his pickup truck at gunpoint and getting a Denton woman into his truck as she walked her dog. She later escaped.

At the time, Amy Cunningham of Denton Police says they began connecting dots. "We worked very closely with Corinth Police because they had similar attempted kidnapping cases in their jurisdiction."

Bagby was captured and indicted in 2021 while in jail awaiting trial for two charges of aggravated assault of public servants when he attacked and harassed jail employees.

Bagby pleaded guilty to two aggravated kidnapping charges and two charges of the aggravated assault of public servants. In all, he will serve 20 years in prison.
