A McKinney man has now been charged in the attempted murder of his eight-year-old son.
Police say they interrupted a gruesome murder-suicide attempt when they were called to a home because of a man making suicidal threats. They entered the home only to find a man and a boy already hanging from a staircase railing. They immediately cut them down and both Kendall Thigpen-Watkins and his son were rushed to the hospital.
Police say the boy survived and has been released from the hospital.
Thigpen-Watkins is now locked up in the Collin County jail on a capital felony charge of attempted murder of a person younger than ten-years-old.
