The city of McKinney has a new statue of the beloved movie dog Benji from the film of that name.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the making of that kid classic filmed in McKinney in 1973. It was released the following year.
On Sunday, a life-size bronze statue of Benji was unveiled during McKinney's annual Krewe of Barkus Mardi Gras festival.
Sculptor Susan Norris was on hand to help take the wraps off Benji's likeness looking skyward with his left paw lifted in a "shake" gesture.
The sculpture will be installed at the corner of Virginia and Tennessee streets once a pedestal is constructed.
