It's been five years to the day since five police officers were murdered in a downtown Dallas ambush, and a memorial march is scheduled in their honor today.
The march will be preceded by a 10 a.m. service recognizing all the officers killed on the job to be held at the Police Memorial at Akard and Young near Dallas City Hall.
The service will include music from the Dallas Police Choir, the reading of the Roll Call of Honor, a 21-gun salute, taps and a Dallas police helicopter flyover.
This evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a candlelight tribute will be held at the Dallas police Southwest Patrol division headquarters on West Illinois and South Cockrell Hill Road where three of the murdered officers worked.
On July 7th, 2016 four Dallas officers and a DART police officer were ambushed while providing security for a march organized by civil rights activists.
