A suspect is in critical condition after being shot by a police officer in Mesquite this morning.
Mesquite Police say according to preliminary information, officers were dispatched to the Audubon Park Apartments on Northwest Drive following a 911 hang-up call.
Dispatchers reported heard screaming and sounds of a struggle in the background.
Police say officers encountered the suspect when they arrived on the scene, and it culminated with police shooting the suspect.
He was in critical condition when he was rushed to a hospital. There has been no update on his condition or identity.
A second ambulance was requested for the assault victim.
