Former TCU player Jeff Gladney has been indicted for felony family violence by a Dallas County grand jury, following which he was also released by the Minnesota Vikings.

Jeff Gee Gladney, 24 West St. Paul MN, is accused of striking the woman April 1, 2021.

The criminal accusation is detailed in a lawsuit that was filed against Gladney last week in Dallas County Court.

“During this incident, Gladney physically assaulted and beat Plaintiff and held her against her will for several hours. Once the incident was over, Gladney attempted to bribe, threaten, blackmail, and manipulate Plaintiff into silence about the incident. Gladney has since followed, harassed, and attempted to coerce Plaintiff on several occasions, and has publicly falsely accused Plaintiff of lying,” the lawsuit says.

The woman, known in the suit only by the pseudonym Jane Doe, accuses Gladney of beating and choking her for more than two hours, leaving the woman “in extreme pain, terrified and hurt, and feared what was going to happen next.”

The lawsuit alleges the beating began on a trip from Pleasant Grove to Carrollton.  “Defendant started hitting her on the sides of her face. Plaintiff begged Defendant not to hit her face since she had to work the next day. At some point during the beating, Defendant turned to choking Plaintiff, forcefully wrapping both of Defendant’s hand around her neck and cutting her air off until, as she recalls, she nearly passed out.”

Gladney tried to stop Doe from pressing criminal charges by attempting to bribe her with gifts, the suit says.

Court records show Gladney has an attorney for the criminal case.  He did not immediately reply for comment.  The court records do not show an attorney of record for the civil matter.

Gladney played college football at TCU. He started 15 games his rookie year with the Vikings last year. The Vikings’ official website says Gladney majored in criminal justice.
