A major new development in Frisco is expected to have a big impact on the city's economy.

Construction crews have started work on Fields West, a mixture of residential, retail, and entertainment space at the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway.

Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said it's part of their effort to attract new people to the region, along with the Universal Kids Resort.

"There are already 7 million visitors a year to Frisco, it's a big part of our local economy this is going to just bring even more visitors."

He said the Universal Kids Resort should be finished in 2026 and the Fields West development should be ready in 2027.
