WEATHERFORD (1080 KRLD)- A Weatherford woman is under arrest after her son unknowingly brought drug paraphernalia to school.

Weatherford Police were called to Bose Ikard Elementary School this week after a four-year-old boy handed his teacher a THC pipe with a cartridge loaded in it.

"The student told the teacher and the principal that his mother had left it in his bag.," says Weatherford Police Cmdr. Matthew Chalmers.

THC is short for tetrahydrocannabinol, the potent ingredient in marijuana.

Chalmers says it's a good thing that the boy gave the device to his teacher right away.

"Had they gotten that vape device out, every single one of them could have smoked on it," says Chalmers.

After investigators questioned her, they arrested her.

"They did decide to wait until after she was leaving the school," Chalmers says. "They didn't want to arrest her in front of her son and in front of all the kids."

Chalmers says Randall did not surrender without a fight.

"They had a little tussle. The backup officer arrived, they took her to the ground and were finally able to get her handcuffed and (they) put her in the back of a car."

Randall is charged with child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, and she has since bonded out of jail.

There's no word on whether the child is still in the home.
