In Plano, the city's Texas Neighborhood Coalition (TNC) does not like the city's new plan to regulate short term rentals (STRs) and at tonight's city council meeting it will push the council to approve tougher regulations.

The coalition was started just over a year ago by Plano residents who want to save their neighborhoods from short term rentals.

The group has been urging the city council to impose tougher regulations. They have complained about loud parties, parking problems, shootings, and even an illegal brothel being run out of one of those rentals.

Last month the Plano City council agree to some new rules in an attempt to regulate the STRs, but the TNC says the council has watered down the original rules saying a parking plan is no longer required, rules to suspend a property have been weakened, and the two strikes license revocation plan has been nixed.

The coaltion is also asking Plano to do what Dallas is doing and ban all short term rentals in neighborhoods zoned for single families.

The Plano city council meets to discuss the issue at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
