For years, Sandbar Cantina & Grill brought beach fun to DFW with their sand volleyball courts, but when the popular bar closed their doors earlier this year many in the metroplex wondered how it would be replaced. Luckily, it was just announced the bar replacing Sandbar will feature another beach activity for the metroplex to enjoy. Next year, a bar and restaurant with a wave pool for surfing will open at 317 S/ Second Avenue just in time for summer.

Later this month, construction will begin on Goodsurf Dallas, a new restaurant and bar that features “the world's most accessible and authentic surf wave technology,” called Citywave. According to WFAA, the technology is able to create “deep water stationary waves” that can rise up to six feet tall. Along with the surfing experience, Goodsurf will offer a wide variety of food and beverages.

The new concept will also feature a beer garden for guests to enjoy once open in March 2024. "Deep Ellum is already the heart and soul of Dallas' entertainment scene. We couldn't be prouder for Goodsurf to be a part of this vibrant community,” said Goodsurf CEO Zach Shor. Thanks to Goodsurf the next great surfer may come from DFW.
