A new book, released this month, takes a unique and critical look at the City of Dallas through its buildings.
The book called 'Welcome to Paradox City' is written by Mark Lamster who is the Pulitzer-prize winning architecture critic for the Dallas Morning News.
"It begins with Millermore, which is sort of the Greek Dallas mansion of the Antebellum period that sort of established what a great Dallas house would look like," Lamster said.
It moves on to other buildings such as the Texas School Book Depository, North Park Center, and Dallas City Hall which has been front and center in Dallas politics this summer.
"Fountain Place, the Nasher, Hyatt Regency and Reunion Tower," Lamster said of other buildings included in the book.
Lamster says some of the material he has covered with his work at the Dallas Morning News but much of it is original work.
"There's also, in the back, a bunch of appendixes with important buildings in the city so you can kind of use it as a de facto guide book," he said.
'Welcome to Paradox City' is published by Dallas-based publisher Deep Vellum.
