At Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where President John F. Kennedy died 60 years ago today, a park is now open to honor his memory.

The new park on the Parkland Hospital campus is called the John F. Kennedy Park for Hope, Healing, and Heroes. It's located at the south side of the Ron Anderson MD Clinic Building.

The park is open Monday thru Friday from 8 am - 6 pm.

The Parkland Health Foundation paid for the park. It serves as a quiet place to sit and reflect on Kennedy's life and his efforts to unite the country. The park includes a water feature that represents Kennedy's love of the sea, three live oak trees for his three children, and a dark granite feature wall where people can sit and heal as well as celebrate his life.

“This park is a space for all to remember and reflect on the president’s ideals of unity and inclusion—and also on our own resiliency in the face of challenge and change,” said Michael Horne, EdD, MPP, President & CEO of Parkland Health Foundation. “By integrating the calming effects of water and greenery, this park also embodies Parkland’s belief in the power of physical spaces to aid in the healing journey for all who enter.”
