FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- Next year's Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth has already been delayed because of the Coronavirus -- the first postponement in the event's 58 years.
Held every four years, the Van Cliburn is considered one of the most prestigious events of its kind. In making this decision, the competition's board looked at four factors.
Social distancing requirements, the need for international travel for competitors, uncertainty over the nature of the pendemic at home and abroad and complications over the winner's touring schedule when many world concert tours have been suspended.
The board has voted to delay the Cliburn until 2022.
