A Kaukauna High School social studies teacher was placed on administrative leave Monday after a now-deleted social media post mocked recent failed assassination attempts on the president.
Patrick Meyer, who has taught in the Kaukauna Area School District in Wisconsin for more than 20 years, posted the message on X in response to Saturday night’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. The post read: “I am not impressed with recent presidential assassins. It’s f—ing embarrassing! Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great assassins again)! Sad!” It referenced the four men who assassinated U.S. presidents — John Wilkes Booth, Charles Guiteau, Leon Czolgosz and Lee Harvey Oswald — and parodied the “MAGA” slogan. The account has since been deleted.
The Kaukauna Area School District confirmed the leave and said it is reviewing the matter under district policies. In its statement, the district stressed it is “committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, families, and staff, and unequivocally rejects any conduct, expression, or behavior that may encourage, condone, or promote violence in any form.” Officials added there is no evidence the post created any risk to student or school safety and noted it was unrelated to district business.

U.S. Rep. Tony Wied shared a screenshot of the post on Facebook, drawing wider attention to the comments.
The incident comes as the nation continues to grapple with political violence following the weekend event in the nation’s capital. The district serves about 4,200 students in the Fox Valley region, roughly 100 miles north of Milwaukee. No further details on the length of Meyer’s leave or possible discipline have been released.
