Motorists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area should plan ahead for potential traffic delays and road closures Saturday as multiple "No Kings" demonstrations are scheduled across North Texas.

The protests, part of a nationwide day of action on March 28, are expected to draw crowds to at least nine communities in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. Organizers describe the events as peaceful expressions of opposition to certain Trump administration policies on immigration, civil rights and other issues. Dallas and Fort Worth police have indicated the gatherings are anticipated to remain peaceful, with officers monitoring for public safety.

Major rallies include one at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St., from noon to 3 p.m., and another at General Worth Square, 900 Main St. in Fort Worth, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Other locations feature shorter events, such as Arlington at 700 E. Abram St. from 10 a.m. to noon, Irving City Hall from 10 a.m. to noon, and sites in Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Garland, Carrollton, Denton, Flower Mound, Allen and Southlake with varying start times between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Some street closures are possible, particularly around the Fort Worth site where 9th Street and portions of Main Street may be affected for several hours. Dallas police have previously advised drivers to expect heavier-than-normal traffic and intermittent closures near downtown protest areas during similar events.

Community impact is primarily tied to travel disruptions in downtown and suburban commercial zones on a busy Saturday. Officials recommend checking real-time traffic apps, allowing extra time for trips near protest sites, and avoiding downtown cores if possible. No specific crowd sizes have been confirmed for this round of protests, though prior No Kings events in the region have drawn thousands.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Dallas Police Department and Fort Worth Police Department, are coordinating to ensure safety for participants, bystanders and property. No injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with planning for Saturday's events, and organizers emphasize non-violent conduct.

The demonstrations represent the third major coordinated round of No Kings actions since last year, part of broader national protests. A full list of DFW-area events is available through the No Kings coalition website.

For the latest updates, residents should monitor local traffic alerts from TxDOT or city police social channels as the day progresses.
