Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Dallas ISD teachers will not be getting an across-the-board raise in the latest budget set to be approved by trustees.
This new $1.8 billion budget would include money that tackles the COVID-19 learning for students, raises the district's minimum wage and gives millions for a system overhaul.
But it does not include a major across-the-board raise for teachers.
Rena Honea with the Alliance-AFT says they are asking for 7% raise for teachers to compensate for wage stagnation and the cost-of-living inflation during the pandemic, along with a 5% raise for support staff with a $1,000 stipend in January of 2022.
Dallas ISD is set to receive up to $785 million from the feds. While this is a one-time payment Honea believes this is more than enough to fund their ask.
