The North Texas region of the American Jewish Committee is reacting to the killings of two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington last week.

Regional Director Joel Schwitzer says we need to take a cue from the murdered couple and their passion for peace-building.

"It would have been devastating no matter what organization sponsored the program, but the fact that it was AJC just brought it all home," Schwitzer said. "Simply horrific."

Schwitzer says the event the couple attended before they were killed focused on turning pain into purpose.

"To amplify that sentiment and try to turn their pain from this horrible, horrible situation into purpose," Schwitzer said.

Schwitzer says they have found that three-quarters of American Jews feel less safe as a Jewish person in the United States as a direct result of the October 7th attack by Hamas.

The suspect in the Washington case yelled "Free Palestine" when he was arrested.

Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were murdered. The Israeli Ambassador to the United States said they were about to become engaged.
