A North Texas education nonprofit is working to fight the ongoing teacher shortage in Texas by working with educators and districts through support and mentorship.
The Educator Collective has training programs that teachers from 60 area school districts have utilized over the years. They also go into the schools to interact with teachers and administrators.
"They bring us in to provide coaching and leadership development for their teachers or principals," CEO Alejandra Barbosa of The Educator Collective said. "We never want this to not be accessible or available to any educator in the Metroplex."
The Educator Collective recently merged with a similar organization that provided the same support to district administrators. Now they can serve both education levels.
Barbosa hopes their training can also inspire educators to better help their students.
"When we can give them the space to develop themselves, they then can role model that for students to do the same," Barbosa said.
Most North Texas-area districts have returned to class over the past two weeks.
