As if excessive heat was not bad enough, North Texas is also dealing with poor air quality Tuesday.
The air quality in North Texas today is level orange, meaning it's unhealthy for some people, those with respiratory problems like asthma, emphysema and COPD.
Ozone pollution is the problem, ground-level ozone to be exact, and it can cause people to cough, wheeze and make it difficult to breathe deeply. Ozone often reaches unhealthy levels during hot sunny days and it can trigger asthma attacks and aggravated lung disease.
If you're sensitive, you should stay indoors as much as possible with your windows closed and limit strenuous outdoor activities. You can help reduce ozone levels by limiting car trips, turning up your air conditioner and waiting until after dusk to gas up.
