Trinity comes off a frustrating 34-14 loss to 6A #1 Austin Westlake, which is a two-time defending state champion. QB Ollie Gordon was again outstanding, as he ran for 188 yards and a score. Things don't get any easier this week for Trinity. Colleyville Heritage has been even better than advertised. After last week's 52-0 win over 6A Saginaw Boswell, the Panthers have outscored their first two opponents by a 94-7 margin. Colleyville Heritage threw for 259 yards and 2 TDs last week. It took a big comeback and the late block of a field goal attempt for Carroll to hold off Rockwall-Heath last week, 36-35. QB Kaden Anderson threw for 352 yards and 2 TDs for the Dragons. Prosper's Eagles beat Mansfield Lake Ridge, 63-7. QB Harrison Rosar passed for 260 yards and 4 TDs. PICK: CARROLL
CEDAR HILL (1-1) at 6A #14 ALLEN (1-1) - 7 p.m. Friday
After losing to Rockwall in the opener, Cedar Hill picked up a 36-26 win over Arlington last week. Longhorns QB Cedric Harden, Jr., ran for a TD and threw for a score. As we mentioned in this space last week, Allen was going to lose at Eagle Stadium at some point, and it happened last week against state-ranked Humble Atascosita, which beat Allen, 41-20. It was the first home loss since October 2011 (Hebron) and the first regular season loss for Allen since September 2012 (Coppell). Cedar Hill has the firepower to make it happen two weeks in a row. DENTON BRASWELL (1-1) at SACHSE (1-1) - 7 p.m. Thursday
Braswell comes off a 27-23 loss to Keller. QB Keegan Byrd passed for two scores and threw for another last week. Sachse was impressive in a 64-42 win over 5A Red Oak. Mustangs QB Alex Orji accounted for 431 of Sachse's 703 total yards, and Sachse piled up 37 points in the first quarter last week. PICK: SACHSE

HC Rodney Webb's Guyer squad made history last week, snapping rival Denton Ryan's 60-game regular season win streak with a 14-7 OT win. Guyer became the first opponent to take down the Raiders in the regular season since...Guyer, in Nov. 2014. Lake Ridge went down to Prosper, 63-7. Marcus Bryce ran for a score in the loss. After falling to Southlake Carroll in the opener, Highland Park rebounded with a 28-24 win over 6A Flower Mound. The Scots went up 21-7, fell behind and rallied for the victory on RB Ben Croasdale's late TD run. Coppell was stunned by TAPPS power Plano Prestonwood, 55-41. Cowboys RB Blake Robbins was outstanding in the loss, running for 143 yards and 4 TDs. PICK: HIGHLAND PARK

A Lamar team decimated by COVID lost to Waxahachie last week, 14-3. Blake Ford cashed in a 44-yard field goal. Lewisville continued its strong start with a 53-24 win over Keller Timber Creek. The Farmers have rolled up 103 points through two games. All-State RB Damien Martinez ran for 255 and 5 TDs last week. PICK: LEWISVILLE
PLANO (1-1) at LAKE HIGHLANDS (2-0) - 7 p.m. Friday
RB Kam Jones ran for three TDs last week, as Plano whipped Rowlett, 60-7. It was the first 60-point performance for the Wildcats since they put 72 on El Paso Eastwood in Sept. 2018. Lake Highlands will be a major challenge for Plano Senior. They got 241 yards and 3 TDs from RB Noelle Whitehead in last week's 55-24 win over Plano East. PICK: LAKE HIGHLANDS

This is one of the better Week 3 matchups in North Texas. After last week's 55-3 romp over Richardson, the Owls have put up 110 points through two games. Garland QB Cergio Perez threw for 350 yards and 6 TDs last week, including a 99-yarder to Jordan Hudson. Teams may be hesitant to schedule Plano Prestonwood going forward. They stunned Coppell last week, 55-41. Prestonwood Christian QB Maguire Martin rolled up 381 passing yards and five scores. PICK: GARLAND

Hit hard by COVID, Naaman Forest has yet to play a game this season. They hope to be healthy and ready to open district play at North Garland next week.

Rockwall-Heath Sr. QB Josh Hoover was outstanding as usual in last week's 36-35 loss to Southlake Carroll. Hoover threw for 344 and three scores. Red Oak should be battle tested going into district play. They fell to 6A Sachse last week, 64-42. The Hawks have allowed 120 points in their first two games against Sachse and Ennis. Mansfield faces another neighbor this week after a 34-14 loss to 5A Mansfield Summit. TIgers QB Sergio Kennedy ran for one score and threw for another. Legacy has struggled on offense. They were shut out by NW Eaton last week, 47-0, and have scored 13 points total through two games. PICK: MANSFIELD HIGH
5AD2 #6 ENNIS (2-0) at WAXAHACHIE (2-0) - 7:30 p.m. Friday
Ennis has given early indications it is a major contender in 5AD2 this year. After opening with an impressive win over Red Oak, the Lions took down 6A Keller Fossil Ridge last week, 36-29. Ennis RB Devion Beasley ran for two scores, including the late game-winner. Waxahachie grabbed a 14-3 win over a COVID-depleted Arlington Lamar team. The Indians defense allowed 110 total yards and forced two turnovers last week. RBs Iverson Young and Javon Jackson each ran for a TD. Waxahachie looks for a little payback after last year's 38-0 loss to Ennis, whom they last defeated in 2018. PICK: ENNIS
6A #1 AUSTIN WESTLAKE (2-0) vs. MANSFIELD SUMMIT (1-1) - 7 p.m. Friday at Mary Hardin-Baylor
Not sure how this one got scheduled, but Summit faces a tough task against two-time defending state champion Austin Westlake, ranked #1 in 6A. The Chaps have rolled to early wins over Temple and Euless Trinity. The Jaguars of Summit have shown they can play with the big boys. Summit took down 6A Mansfield last week, 34-14. The defeat snapped Ryan's 60-game regular season win streak, which stretched all the way back to a loss to Guyer in Nov. 2014.
