The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has assisted North Texans with emergency assistance in the forms of rent, utilities, food and hygiene aid.
This summer, they've played a vital role in helping people stay safe in the brutal heat by providing utility assistance and also easy access to free AC units to people in need living in Lancaster and surrounding Southern Dallas.
They have also filled the gap for many uninsured North Texans in need of prescription medication and is celebrating a large milestone– Since opening in March 2018, the organization has officially surpassed the fulfillment of 200,000 prescriptions, at a value of $55 million.
Luis Gonzalez is the CEO of Society of St. Vincent de Paul North Texas. He joined the KRLD Afternoon News to discuss the impact the group continues to have here in the area.
