More than $4 billion in federal aid is being sent out across the state today to help schools and students recover from the pandemic.
Texas is planning to use the money to help with learning loss, to invest in summer and after school learning programs and to help students get back to in-person learning. Supporting the mental health needs of students is also one of the state's top priorities.
The money is what’s left from the state’s American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds (ARP ESSER), of which more than $8 billion has already been distributed.
The Dallas ISD is getting more than $180 million this time around, and about $87 million is going to the Fort Worth ISD.
