Even when temperatures dipped below zero last week, the robins were everywhere.
You may have noticed the influx of red-breasted birds in recent weeks. Why have they invaded Texas? Because they are hungry.
At Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center in Cedar Hill, Environmental Educator Katie Christman said robins typically come to Texas in the wintertime, but with prevailing drought in other parts of the Southwest, a lot more of their feathered friends have joined them this year in the search for adequate food.
That has resulted in what's known as a robin "irruption."
Christman said other bird species including cardinals and bluejays have also been more ample. She talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer
