
Dallas has utility crews working 24-hours a day to keep up with the growing number of water main breaks, and the problem is coming from the excessive heat.
Water usage has surged during the recent heat wave and that can put additional pressure on pipelines.
Dallas reports having at least 18 repair crews responding 24-hours a day to breaks across the city.
Water consumption has been up dramatically this week. The average daily water usage in Dallas is 380 million gallons per day. On Tuesday, officials say customers used 655 million gallons.
Dallas does have watering restrictions in place. Homeowners can water their lawns twice a week. The schedule is based on the home's address and is posted on the city's web site.
