North Texas Veterans Day events

Saturday is Veteran's Day and there are plenty of events across North Texas honoring our vets.

In Fort Worth the Veterans Day Parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. from the Fort Worth Panther Island Pavilion parking lot where they'll be saluting TCU Warriors. The parade will tribute the legacy of TCU Alumni and Medal of Honor Recipient Major Horace Carlwell.

In Grapevine the Veterans Parade rolls thru the city's historic downtown starting at 10:00 a.m.

A Veterans Day ceremony will take place at DFW National Ceremony starting at 11:00 a.m. to honor and celebrate our nation's heroes. The ceremony will feature the Midlothian High School Choir, the Color Guard with the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, a flyover, and a rifle salute by the Marine Aviation Group 41. Show up early and bring a chair.

And then there is the Mansfield Veterans Day Parade & Salute. It starts up at 11:00 a.m. in downtown with a musical patriotic salute in front of the LOT downtown.

The Plano East Rotary Club observes Veterans Day with its annual display of more than 1,000 American flags honoring a veteran or first responder, continuing through Saturday. Everyone is invited to walk through the field of flags during daylight hours, take photos, and reflect on the service of those who have served in uniform.

Friday at 10:00 a.m. The North Richland Hills Police & Fire Honor Guard will present the national colors before a wreath-laying ceremony, patriotic music, and readings in front of City Hall.

McKinney's traditional Veterans Memorial Park ceremony will happen at 11:00 a.m.

Frisco's parade and community service begins at 10:00 am on Mainstreet in downtown Frisco.

And in Grand Prairie, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. it's a patriotic ceremony at Veterans Park Event Center followed by a free lunch courtesy of the Rotary Clubs of Grand Prairie.
