The North Texas Municipal Water District is temporarily changing its water treatment disinfectant starting Monday, a routine measure aimed at maintaining water quality and preparing pipes for the summer months.
Until March 31, the district will use chlorine alone instead of its usual mix of chlorine and ammonia. Officials say the water will remain safe to drink and continue to meet all health standards, though residents may notice a stronger chlorine taste or smell.
The NTMWD recommends chilling water or adding a slice of citrus to reduce any noticeable chlorine taste. More information is available on the district’s website.
