A train derailment is causing some delays and other headaches in the Northwest school district this morning.
Parents are getting a warning from the district saying, "The Northwest school district is warning of big traffic delays because of a train derailment near Haslet this morning."
School buses are being re-routed around the site where the tracks cross Avondale-Haslet Road just west of FM 156/Blue Mound Road.
For those students who drive themselves to school or who are driven by an adult, there will likely be additional traffic on other roads.
Several schools are near the derailment site including Haslet Elementary, Worthington Middle, and Legacy Learning Center.
