If you drive on toll roads in North Texas, expect to pay a little more starting today.

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) has increased its toll rates by one cent per mile. For drivers with a TollTag, the rate is now 22 cents per mile — up from 21. Those without a TollTag will see even higher charges, since they'll be billed by mail at a higher per-mile rate.

The change affects all NTTA-managed toll roads, including the Dallas North Tollway, the President George Bush Turnpike, the Sam Rayburn Tollway, and the Chisholm Trail Parkway.

NTTA adjusts its rates every two years as part of a policy approved by its board in 2007. Officials say the modest increase helps cover maintenance, operations, and debt repayment for ongoing and future transportation projects.

You can find full details about the new rates and impacted roads at NTTA.org.
