The World Cup provided an opportunity that may someday return in Downtown Dallas.
The Main Street Social Saturdays, where traffic was blocked off to vehicles for a few hours, allowed those gathering for World Cup events downtown to easily move around without having to dodge cars.
Shalissa Perry with Downtown Dallas Inc says they realized quickly that it was something that could be done again.
"I do think that it has proven that we can make it work," Perry said. "It's not the end of the world to lose a few parking spaces and it's really a lot of fun for our residents."
She says she doesn't know though how often they might do it in the future.
The Main Street Social Saturdays blocked vehicle traffic on Main between Akard and Harwood.
"The City of Dallas has been a great partner with us in this," Perry said. "I think we are all in agreement that this has gone well, we want to continue seeing this."
It occurred four Saturdays in a row while the tournament had games in Arlington.
