One man is hospitalized after he was shot by a Fort Worth police officer on Thursday, police say.
The man was driving a stolen vehicle and when officers attempted to pull him over at about 5 p.m. Thursday, he rammed a patrol car, Fort Worth police said.
Police said officers then deployed spike strips, which caused the car to crash in a parking lot.
After wrecking the vehicle, the driver got out of the vehicle with a long gun in his hand and quickly approached another person that was in a white SUV in front of him," Fort Worth police Sgt. Leah Wagner said. "And attempted to carjack that vehicle while pointing that weapon at that civilian."
She said officers shot at the man when he tried to get into that SUV. The man then got out of the vehicle and pointed his gun at a nearby business.
Wagner said officers continued to fire and struck the man. He was taken to an area hospital and was listed in stable condition Friday morning.
Police said no one else was injured during the incident.
