Parts of eastern Fort Worth saw more than five inches of rain in less than two hours Friday night, causing creeks to rise fast and leading to high water across low-lying roads.

In southeast Arlington, Bowman Branch overflowed its banks and the rushing waters inundated the intersection of Webb Ferrell Road and Hanrahan Avenue.

A driver named Saniel Antonio Singh called his family to say his car was swamped and he was stuck.

Arlington firefighters were called out. They found Singh in his completely submerged car and rushed him to a Mansfield hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In the span of an hour-and-a-half, Fort Worth firefighters responded to at least 20 reports of vehicles stranded in fast floods.
