A man is dead and three other people are in the hospital because of a crash in Wise County Wednesday.
DPS troopers are investigating the crash on FM 51 about mid-way between Decatur and Gainesville. Investigators say a driver disregarded a no-passing sign and tried to pass a big rig on an uphill grade near County Road 2825.
While that car was still in the on-coming lane a pick-up truck crested the hill from the other side and slammed head-on into the car.
A passenger in the car was ejected from the wreckage and was killed on impact.
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital while the occupants of the pick-up truck, a couple in their 70s, were flown to Medical City of Denton. Their conditions have not been released.
