The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is making stops in North Texas. Six Wienermobiles tour the U.S., and this one will be touring the Metroplex through March 6.

"We are here with the 27 foot long iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile," says Oscar Mayer's Isaac Salas. "What we want is for people to come out to the Wienermobile, some Wienermobilia, just come out and have a good time."

Salas, who goes by "At the Grill Isaac," greeted families coming to see the Wienermobile outside the Alberton's in Azle Friday.

"A lot of people, it puts a smile on their face instantly," he says. "A lot of people either see it for the first time or remember it when they were little or younger. It really brings back that nostalgia."

Among toys being handed out were whistles in the shape of the Wienermobile. A mom who brought her son says the visit reminded her of her childhood.

"This has been beyond cool," she says. "Who knew he would think it was so cool? My dad already asked, 'What was it like?' It's fun to look at the evolution of it."

"I love to see the Wienermobile has a colored floor like arcades," her son said.

"It's ketchup carpet," the tour guide told him.

"I'm assuming the green is relish then," he continued.

"Yes, you've got to have some condiments for the big dog," she replied.

Oscar Mayer had signs set up around the Wienermobile giving its history and stats. The first Wienermobile started driving in 1936. There are currently six Wienermobiles, and each one can play the Oscar Mayer wiener jingle "in 21 different languages from Cajun to wrap to bossa nova."

"Some people do get surprised the Wienermobile's been around since the Great Depression, but we're happy to keep on going," says At the Grill Isaac.

Weinermobiles are eleven feet high, 27 feet long and eight feet wide. Each one weighs 14,050 poinds or "140,500 hot dogs." Each Wienermobile travels an average of 500 miles a week.

"We drive it all over the country, coast to coast on the weenie roast, if you will," Salas says. "People get a thrill seeing it all over the hot dog highways. They're always waving, honking, taking pictures, all that stuff."
