
A Dallas woman is facing a murder charge after police say she intentionally left her 15-month-old child inside a hot car for more than two hours, leading to the child’s death.
Frisco police arrested 27-year-old Vanessa Esquivel after investigators determined she left the baby in a vehicle without air conditioning while temperatures outside climbed into the mid-90s.
Officers say the child was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Esquivel is being held at the Collin County jail on a $250,000 bond. She is charged with murder, a first-degree felony that carries a possible sentence of five years to life in prison.
Police have not released a possible motive. The case remains under investigation.
