Some parents of students at a Mesquite charter school are frustrated over suspensions in connection to a February shooting at Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy.
A student brought a loaded gun to the school on Feb. 19. Once police were called, officers shot and injured the student after they refused to surrender the gun. That student suffered a minor injury and is facing weapons and aggravated assault charges.
The school suspended three other students because the school said they knew about the student with the gun but didn't report it. Those students could be expelled pending a hearing.
Parents of those students said it's outrageous that the kids are being suspended, arguing the students have been traumatized enough because of the school shooting and should not face additional discipline.
