The Pentagon has reclassified the death of Army Pfc. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton and three other service members, moving them from the Operation Epic Fury casualty list to a new “Overseas Operations” category on its public database.
Gonzales, 19, was killed July 17 during an Iranian missile and drone attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. She was posthumously promoted and laid to rest with military honors Sunday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Official Army statements at the time said she was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve as an air and missile defense crewmember assigned to units based in Germany.
The other service members reclassified are 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton. Feehan and Rampersad also died in the Jordan attack; Swinton was killed days later in Iraq while dealing with a downed Iranian drone.

According to the Defense Casualty Analysis System, the four were initially counted under Operation Epic Fury, the name given to the U.S.-led campaign against Iran that began in late February. They were later shifted to the Overseas Operations category, which tracks casualties in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility starting July 7.
A War Department official said the change reflects the conclusion of Operation Epic Fury on May 5, after which later casualties are classified under the broader overseas operations label. Pentagon officials also cited temporary data disruptions on the website earlier in the process.
The adjustment means the public tally for Operation Epic Fury stands separately from the newer Overseas Operations figures. Combining both categories produces a higher overall count of deaths and wounded from the period of fighting with Iran.
Gonzales, a 2025 Hebron High School graduate from Carrollton, enlisted shortly after high school. Her death and the subsequent database changes have drawn attention in North Texas as the community continues to mourn the young soldier.
