Government leaders planning ahead for high speed rail service between Dallas and Fort Worth

It's a good 15 to 20 years away, but government leaders are planning ahead in an effort to bring high speed rail service between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Transportation planners are looking at more than 40 possible routes and a couple of technologies to bring high-speed transportation to the area. They hope to offer service between Dallas and Fort Worth with a stop in Arlington.

However, they still have to decide between traditional high-speed rail or a hyperloop. The difference is traditional high-speed trains travel at roughly 200 mph while a Hyperloop, which is emerging technology, would travel at speeds of about 600 mph.

There's a public meeting being held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Globe Life Field for anyone interested in offering any suggestions.
