A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing in east Arlington.

The single-engine Cessna made the emergency landing on Timberlake Dr. near Park View Dr. on the eastern edge of Arlington, almost into Grand Prairie.

"There were two people who were on board the plane that had already exited the plane on their own, and they were not seriously injured," says Tim Ciesco, Arlington Police spokesman.

There are several industrial-style buildings and an apartment complex in the immediate area.

"As they were landing, they did hit a chain link fence. I believe that belongs to a business there in the area," says Ciesco. "But otherwise, no other property damage was reported."

The FAA and the NTSB will determine what forced the pilot to make the emergency landing.

"Because the plane is in the roadway right now and we're waiting on our federal partners to arrive and do what they need to do for their investigation, we do anticipate that that stretch of Timberlake is going to be closed for quite some time," Ciesco says.
