Plano police have now charged a man seen in a viral video confronting protestors blocking an intersection on May 2nd.
The march was designed to protest the death of Marvin Scott, a man who died in the Collin County jail in March.
A woman claims the suspect slapped her hand that was holding a cell phone as she filmed the confrontation.
Yesterday, police charged the man with a misdemeanor count of assault by contact.
Social media commenters claimed someone in the crowd of demonstrators pulled a gun. But Plano police went out of their way to say, backed up a photograph, that the device that was seen was not a firearm but a stun gun.
Within hours after the charges were announced, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton tweeted a statement criticizing the city for permitting what he called "mob rule" and "lawlessness."
