The Artemis II flight around the Moon that splash down successfully last week has yet another North Texas connection.

One of the Navy sailors who assisted in the recovery operation is from Plano.

Airman Daniel Olson was among the sailors who supported the recovery of the crew and Orion spacecraft.

"I joined the Navy because I wanted to do more and see more in my life," Olson said. "This includes having stories I can pass down in my family."

Olson was a 2020 graduate of Plano East Senior High School and is assigned to the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 which airlifted the crew from the water to the USS John P. Murtha.
