Dallas police are investigating after three people were found dead and a fourth was taken to a hospital Monday afternoon at a South Dallas home about a mile south of Fair Park.
Dallas Police Department spokesman Corbin Rubinson said officers responded about 1:12 p.m. to a request for help from Dallas Fire-Rescue in the 2700 block of Burger Avenue, near Malcolm X Boulevard. Investigators found four unconscious people inside the home, Rubinson said. Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced three dead at the scene and took the fourth person to a hospital.
Rubinson said the investigation into the manner and circumstances of the deaths is ongoing. Police have not released the names or ages of the people found in the house, and they have not said what led to the call. FOX 4 reported that Dallas Fire-Rescue characterized the call as medical in nature. A stretcher was seen near the front door as news helicopters circled the block.
No arrests were announced Monday evening. The Dallas Morning News reported it was not immediately clear what condition the hospitalized person was in.
Burger Avenue sits in a residential stretch of South Dallas south of Fair Park and east of Interstate 45. Neighbors and passing traffic were kept back while officers and firefighters worked the scene. Police did not describe any immediate threat to the surrounding community.
As of early Tuesday, detectives had not publicly classified the deaths as a homicide, an accident or another cause. The Dallas County medical examiner’s office typically determines official cause and manner of death after an examination. Those results had not been released.
