Police investigating Dallas man's death after being attacked by a dog

A man died after being attacked by a dog at a home in Dallas, authorities said.

Officers were called shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 4100 block of Esmalda Drive in West Dallas at the request of Dallas Fire-Rescue, police said. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been attacked by a dog inside the home.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died, officials said.

Police said the incident occurred at a home in the 4100 block of Pringle Drive, just a block away. Authorities did not immediately clarify the discrepancy in addresses.

The investigation is ongoing. In a press release, police said the case is being investigated as a homicide. No additional details were released.
