A lockdown at a high school in Haltom City due to an "unverified threat" was lifted Thursday afternoon, after police say they determined it was false.

Officers were on the scene at Shannon High School, located in the 6000 block of Walker Street, Haltom City police said. They added they did not believe there was an "imminent threat."

"This is an unverified threat against the school, Haltom City police are on the scene making sure everything is OK," Birdville ISD wrote in a comment to the Haltom City Police Department's Facebook post.

Earlier Thursday, Spicer Elementary, in the 4300 block of Estes Park Road, was put on lockdown after an "accidental activation of the system," police said.
