Police make arrest after explosion at bridge in Bedford

An arrest has been made in connection with the ongoing investigation into some explosions at a small bridge on Forest Ridge Drive in Bedford, just north of Hwy 183.

Bedford police say a 'device' exploded at a small bridge on Forest Ridge Drive Wednesday afternoon. The explosion was so loud that several people living nearby heard it and immediately called 911.

Police and federal agents shut down the bridge and immediately began the investigation where they reportedly found another explosive device.

The Northeast Explosive Response Team was called in to detonate a second device, according to NBCDFW.

No one was hurt in the initial explosion. Engineers will be called in to evaluate the bridge after the scene is cleared.

A person of interest was taken into custody from the nearby Logan Apartments on Sierra Springs Drive around 2:00 a.m. Thursday, according to police.

Bedford police chief Jeff Williams was on the scene and said the man they arrested is the person of interest. His identity has not been released.
